Also includes four colour plates of flies by J M Gillies, five pages of maps, and twenty eight pages of photographs of fish and fishing spots in Australia and New Zealand. The book reveals why each pattern deserves to be chosen, and sometimes includes the evolution of the fly's design. Advice on why and when to fish each pattern, and full tying instructions, are also given. Includes seven pages by Rob Sloane. The text of this book is only half the story: the other half is the flies themselves and their illustrations. Colour illustrations of each fly by Aideen Canning and has many colour photographs. The introduction provides a concise history of the ancient craft of fly tying.   The rest of the book presents full colour photographs of a wide range of dry, wet, nymph ,lures, rare feathers, patterns with explanatory text, special illustrated feature pages, and evocative location photographs.
