Abbreviations n.d - Not Dated edn - Edition Illust - Illustrated in Black & White or Colour D/J - Dust Jacket E/P - Endpapers Sizes 64mo - Up to 3" tall 32mo - 3" to 4" tall 24mo - 4" to 5" tall 18mo - 5" to 6" tall 16mo - 6" to 7" tall 12mo - 7" to 8" tall 8vo - 8" to 10" tall 4vo - 10" to 12" tall Folio - 12" to 15" tall Elephant Folio - Greater than 15" tall Condition Description Mint As new, no wear, totally crisp clean copy. Very Fine Near Mint, only slightly worn. Fine Exceptionally good copy, but starting to show wear. Very Good Above average, but showing wear. May be dirty but generally a tight copy with no major defects. Good Only average condition. Showing considerable wear e.g. fading, rubbing, smudging etc but no missing pages. Fair Below average and showing quite a lot of wear e.g. cracked hinges, loose pages, torn but intact pages, worn or barely legible lettering. Poor Badly worn, only stocked if scarce edition. Edition Unless otherwise stated, books listed are first editions and in original cloth. Inscriptions, Book Plates and Signatures These are commonly found on the endpapers of used books and are not noted in the catalogue description unless the previous owner as an indentity of some fame or notoriety. |
